The i-Lipo Laser: What is it and What’s All The Fuss About?
For any human being, physical fitness and diet play crucial roles in having a healthy life. In fact, I have watched patients slim down and lose weight by watching how they eat and engaging in physical activities they enjoy. Normally, these are positive life changes that become part of your life and keep you healthy. It’s wonderful when these things are working well.
These habits can be hard to start or maintain. Exercise and proper diet may become increasingly challenging over time, especially when someone is not losing weight or slimming down the way they think they should be.
There are many people out there who work out consistently (3, 4 or 5 days a week) but just can’t seem to lose the fat around their waist, thighs, arms or chin? I have also had patients complain to me that they would love to take up an exercise program, but are discouraged by the amount of weight they want to lose. After hearing so much complaining from patients, I wanted to see if we could safely do more, above and beyond the exercise and the diet, to help people.
I began looking into body contouring and body shaping lasers over 4 years ago. At the time, I was the first Doctor in California to obtain my Cutting Edge, infra-red therapy laser for my office. That therapy laser has done such a great job with my patients’ swelling, inflammation, pain and scar tissue that it gave me the foundation for understanding how i-Lipo works. This laser has been wildly successful in Europe and it has been FDA approved in the U.S. since 2010.
How does it work?
i-lipo is a new, revolutionary system that uses low level lasers for fat reduction and body shaping treatments. The i-lipo uses photobiomodulation to stimulate the body’s natural process for releasing stored content in the adipose cells. Every day, the human body is storing excess calories from you diet in the adipose tissue. The brain is in control of when the contents are released, and then metabolized into energy. You can compare the adipose cells to a re-chargeable battery, sometimes used and sometimes stored up depending on diet and exercise.
i-lipo is used to trigger the release of the contents, without exercise, and is able to target the precise stubborn areas. i-lipo is non-invasive with no pain, no needles, and no downtime. Patients can expect results of losing 1-2 dress sizes during their course of treatments. i-lipo is best paired with a change in lifestyle to maintain your results, typically just simple diet and exercise.
The low level laser used in i-lipo creates a photobiomodulation effect, altering the cells chemistry and triggering a release of a lipase enzyme that can break down triglyceride molecules into fatty acids and glycerol molecules. This process makes them small enough to exit through the pores of the fat cell membrane and then used as fuel by your metabolism.
Naturally, your lymphatic system carries the cell contents to the bloodstream where they can be used as fule and removed. i-lipo maximizes the body’s lymphatic flow through stimulation of the nodes in your treatment area. It is recommended to exercise following treatment in order to burn up the newly released fatty acids and glycerol in order to completely remove them from your body’s fat storage.
The course of treatment should be 8 sessions of 10-20 minutes each are performed twice a week. Thus body reshaping can be complete in four weeks. Only 1 area is treated per day in order to maximize the burning off of the contents. If there is an excess of content in need of being burned off then there is a risk that it will be stored back as fat again. Once a patient has completed a course of treatments they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep their results. After i-lipo treatment nutritional supplements are also used to maintain and encourage metabolic activity and to support a healthier lifestyle.
The FDA supports the i-Lipo Laser:
If this sounds too good to be true, then let me say it one more time: the i-Lipo laser provides body contouring, shaping and fat reduction that is non-invasive, safe and has no side effects. Let me be clear: this laser is not for weight loss. Even though you will lose fat, you are exercising and watching your diet and will likely gain muscle mass from working out.
Breaking news for the i-Lipo was announced during the week of April 22.
“Chromogenex is delighted to receive FDA approval to market the successful i-Lipo low level laser diode device for circumference reduction of the waist. The i-Lipo is the first direct skin contact laser device for fat reduction and body contouring to receive such approval for circumference reduction”.
